Migy Blanco is a Frome-based fine artist. He writes about his work:

I am attracted by urban environments; they can feel bleak and uncompromising, but I can’t help but feel uplifted by their grand, futuristic, architectural visions.

I work on canvas, painting primarily in oil. I’m inspired by both urban and natural landscapes, working mostly from sketches that I create out in the environment – drawing helps me capture movement and life, and a feeling for place, something beyond what the eye can see. I use colour to draw out this feeling.

My painting process plays with distortion and resistance. I try to play with that knife-edge balance of letting the paint find its own chaotic way and myself exerting just enough controls to create an image that feels alive and in motion. Each painting is its own experiment.
